A Multimedia Tour of the Solar System

Summer nights, camping under the stars, what a way to look forward to spending a vacation. But while looking at those stars, have you ever wondered about them? Especially the ones closest to the Earth. I mean the other planets that go around the sun with us, as well as their moons. If you look on a clear night, you will even be able to see some of them. The astronauts on the Shuttle Discovery and the International Space Station will also have a nice view of them.

They are the subject of the Family First Site today. Called The Nine Planets, this site is a multimedia tour of our solar system. From Mercury, the closest to the sun, to Pluto, the most distant. Anything and everything you could want to know about them is here. It contains a lot of great pictures, as well as links to other space related sites. The amount of information contained here is just what any budding Carl Sagan or Isaac Asimov needs to spur their interest in science.
This site contains basic knowledge (and a lot of it) for anyone from the curious layman to the dedicated astronomer and budding astronaut. While it probably won’t happen in our lifetime, it is inevitable that we will go to our neighbors, and even beyond. Sound kind of like science fiction? Well, there was a time that sending a man into space was treated with the same skepticism. Look at where we are, and how far we have come. The journey so far has given us the ability to create sits such as this one. It is a site that deserves a bookmark in the educational section of your browser.
